A Question

Three good men did good works.

One man did good works because his religion promised eternal rewards if he did

One man did good works because his religion promised eternal damnation if he didn’t.

One man did good works because, after consideration, it was simply the right thing to do.

Which man was truly the good man?

All three were good men. They each found their own way to bring themselves to contribute to the world. Whatever goes on in one's head is of relatively little importance compared to the deeds of one's hands. Ultimately, all three believed they were acting in their own best self interest.
